“The most important thing about me is that I am a child of God, saved by grace and, with God’s help, learning to know and love Jesus more every day!” ~Pastor Anson Veenstra
I was born in 1960 and raised two miles west of Sully, Iowa. I am the 4th of eight children (two sets of twins). My father was a dairy farmer but in ’86’ he traded the cows for sows and for twelve years he raised crops and pigs. I graduated from Lynnville-Sully High-School in 1979 and headed off to Iowa State University. After a few semesters I decided that college was not for me, and in 1980 I began working in the machine shop at Vermeer Mfg. in Pella, Iowa. But God had different plans. From 1984-1993 I was back in school. This time at “Reformed Bible College” (known now as Kuyper College) and Calvin Theological Seminary where I graduated in 1988. I met my best friend, Sylvia, while a student at RBC and we were married in 1989. I graduated from Calvin Theological Seminary in 1993 and have served as a Pastor since. (Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Des Moines, IA; and currently in right here in Baldwin).
I enjoy life more than I ever have before. One of the reasons for my joy is that I am a husband of the most wonderful wife (Sylvia) in the world. I also am a father to four really awesome children: Rachelle, Emily, Katelyn, and Justin. Another thing that makes life so great is that I am the Pastor of the ‘neatest group’ of sinners anywhere assembled. The members of Baldwin CRC are like family. I am a card carrying member of SNAP fitness and enjoy running, biking, watching the Minnesota Twins and reading books. J. I. Packer, R.C. Sproul, C.S. Lewis, and Tolkien are a few of my favorite authors. The Bible is my favorite book ever.
