Welcome!

Baldwin CRC is located just north of Baldwin, WI. We have a long history here–the church was founded in 1888. Over the last 130+ years, new church buildings have been built and added on to, a number of pastors have been called and served, the town of Baldwin has grown and changed, and the ministries of the church have also changed to meet the needs of our members and the community. Throughout this history, God has been faithful, and the people of Baldwin CRC have put their roots in God’s Word.

We are a Christian church. We believe in the Triune God–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe God is eternal and that he created and remains sovereign over all things. We believe that sin has come into the world and has infected every person. We believe our just and merciful God sent his Son Jesus Christ to save all who put their hope in him. We confess that by his life we have righteousness, by his death we have forgiveness and salvation, and by his resurrection we have hope for renewed lives and eternal life with him. We believe the Holy Spirit is given to every believer to give us the truth and hope of the gospel, and is at work making us more and more like Christ.

We are part of the Reformed tradition. Baldwin CRC is part of a denomination called the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA or CRC for short). The CRC was founded in 1857 by Dutch immigrants to North America. Our theology has been shaped by the Protestant Reformation of the 1500s and especially John Calvin. This heritage places a strong emphasis on the biblical messages and themes of God’s sovereignty, his covenant relationship and work with humanity, the centrality of Scripture in worship and preaching, and seeking to understand the truths and doctrines of our faith.

We are Christians. We gather on Sundays and throughout the week as part of God’s family to worship and praise God, to learn his Word and his call on our lives, and to fellowship together. We’re certainly not perfect, but we genuinely care about who you are, what you’re going through, and what you’re interested and involved in. We seek to go out into daily life–our families and friendships, our workplaces, our communities, this area, and God’s world–to love and serve each other and our neighbors.

In our denomination, we’re also part of Classis Lake Superior. Classes are regional groupings of churches intended for accountability, mutual support, encouragement, and common ministry.

As members in the CRCNA, we believe that the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, the only infallible rule for faith and life. We affirm three creeds–the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed–as ecumenical expressions of the Christian faith. We also affirm three confessions–the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort–as historic Reformed expressions of the Christian faith, whose doctrines fully agree with the Word of God.

Along with these historic creeds and confessions, we recognize the following Reformed expressions of the Christian faith, adopted by synod as contemporary testimonies: the call for unity, justice, and reconciliation of the Belhar Confession and the witness of Our World Belongs to God: A Contemporary Testimony.
